In an Op-Ed that appeared in Newsday on October 1, 2008, Sol Erdman and Lawrence Susskind showed how Congress could have written a much better financial rescue bill: by choosing the most appropriate negotiators. Erdman and Susskind acknowledged that congressional leaders would likely resist this new approach, because it deviated from Capitol Hill's well established procedures.
